Chrome Spools

Valve Spool After Rechrome and Precision GrindingWhen valves are rebuilt, did you know that they are actually STRONGER, TOUGHER than when they came out of the factory??

When we rebuild a control valve, we grind the spool down and replace with hard chrome.  The nickel of the hard chrome has superior physical properties compared to regular steel.  Giving you a longer wear life.

Why not chrome everything?

Well, first of all, it is very difficult (read: expensive) to chrome inside the valve body.  Also, the spool would not function correctly with a hard chrome to hard chrome fit.  When 2 of the same metals try to rub against eachother, you get a condition called galvanic seizing.  Not good for smooth operation needed with control valves.
